Lynette Nicky - Receptionist/Secretary in POM Office
My name is Lynette Yalanemo Nicky and I come from Morobe Province. I'm currently living in Port Moresby with my family. I am the first born followed by a sister, but my family also adopted two more children, a girl and boy.
I completed grade 12 in 2005 and then went on to Commercial Training College for a year. I did not complete my studies because we did not have the finances for me to do so and for my sister to continue her studies at the nursing college. Instead, I stayed at home doing other things like helping my mum go to the market. During this time, I continued to pray and have faith that one day God would give me a job. I grew up in a Christian family, and I have seen how God has blessed us in many ways, both big and small.
In July of last year, when some black Americans came to Papua New Guinea, my uncle, Steven, invited them to join us for our youth fellowship night. They fellowshipped and shared their testimonies with us. After sharing they asked us to come up so they could pray for each of us, so I went forward and one of the young ladies asked me for my prayer request. I told her that I need a job, so she prayed for me.
After the fellowship, my aunt, Elizabeth, called me and told me that they needed someone to work in the office of the Bible Translation Association of Papua New Guinea. She asked me to consider coming to work with them. That night, I could not believe that God had answered my prayer so quickly! It is true that God knows our needs before we even ask him. I am so blessed and thankful for what He has done in my life.
Since October 2008, I have worked with BTA. I love doing my job and I am always learning new things. I also meet new people every day. I plan to continue serving the Lord in whatever work I do and to give praise and thanks to Him each day of my life.
The Word of the Lord protects and guides my everyday life. It means everything to me.
